Why Photography?

Hey guys :)

If you have been reading this blog or if you know me, you would also know that I love photography :) and some of you have asked "why photography?"

Well, for me, it's because photos capture moments that we do not want to forget. Beautiful occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

All these get-together celebrations always bring a warm fuzzy feeling with all that laughter and joy.

And that's why I love photography, I love it when a photo captures the moment perfectly.

When you can look back at a photo and remember exactly what was happening there.

And sometimes I find it abit of waste when beautiful occasions such as weddings don't have many pictures that are able to capture the moment.

Because it's moments like this that come only once in a lifetime, so they really should be captured well.

So anyways, when did I start photography? :)

Well, it started off when my second sister, Euodia got her SPM present after getting her flying colors results.

3.2 megapixel camera, people.
three point two.
I'll just let that sink in first.

So my sister started baking and took a few pictures of some of things she baked.

One day, she asked me to help her take a few pictures of this cookie she baked.

I was like "what? me?" cause I really had no clue in taking pictures.

She introduced to me this feature called the "macro" feature. This creates the blurry background and the object is really close up.

Ever since then, I started taking pictures with this 3.2 digital camera cause I really liked the macro feature.

No edits and these were some flowers I found at my old neighbour's garden. Ya know, like just casually taking pictures of peoples' plants.

I was 14 years old when I begin taking pictures. That's also when I started becoming vainer, taking pictures of myself. Hahah.

This was taken with a Canon G12. It's a semi-dslr.
Took this at MBTS, Penang while coordinating my church junior youth retreat.

So I decided to post some of my favourite pictures on facebook and that's when my family begin realizing this new hobby of mine.

When I was 15, I asked my mom if I could get a DSLR because the 3.2 megapixel camera was no longer with me, my sister was then living in KL already.

My mom made a deal that I would get a DSLR once I give her straight As for PMR.

While waiting for PMR to come, I continued taking pictures with some of my friends' camera.

So one day, while I was on facebook, I decided to send a message to my mom's church friend, who is an AMAZING photographer.

Basically the message was about me asking him to look at some the pictures I have taken and give some comments so that I can improve

This AMAZING ( I js had to repeat that) photographer was happy to help and gave a lot of constructive comments and asked that if I'm really into photography, that I should go to him weekly and learn up some stuff

I was about to pop the champagne and cue some fireworks I tell you.

So anyways, this photographer is Uncle Jonathan Kwok :) unfortunately, I had a few weekly classes before he and his family left for missions.

Before he left which was actually my PMR results, my mom decided to get me a Nikon D90.

Starting of 2011-2012, I took less photos due to my hectic school schedule. Holding the Christian Fellowship president title, floorball captain, cell group leader and worship leader in church, I barely had time to touch my camera.

But 2013 was a time for me to start taking pictures again :)

This picture was taken today :) Say hello my second nephew, Evan Ch'ng. Cheeky baby that puts a smile on your face without even trying.

I definitely hope to take more photos and my dream is to meet Jenny Sun one day :) am a huge fan of her works. Just love how you can feel the mood and atmosphere while looking at her pictures.

If you can, do google her and you will know what I'm talking about ;)

Before I end this post, I wanna thank my mom and dad for granting this camera that helped me in pursuing my passion, I wouldn't be able to take any of these photos without the PMR present :)

Lastly and most importantly, thank You God for every opportunity to do what I love.

Have a blessed Chinese New Year ahead, people! Don't forget to spend time with your precious loved ones cause that's always the beauty of festivities and celebrations.

Random

So I have a test tmr morning and before I did some revision, I decided to clear my study table.

Now you might ask why do I have so many pictures & papers on my board and table.

Well, these things keep me going :) encouragement letters, appreciation letters, bible verses, pictures of people that mean alot to me.

But anyways, I decided to clear my table today. Not much difference but hey, it's something :)

Don't worry guys, I did not throw your letters away :) they are kept safely. Hahah

introverts.

The world loves extroverts.

They're the ones who kick start the party, the ones that people will usually go to, they are the ones that can make people laugh without even trying hard.

Unfortunately, this isn't always the case for introverts.

Introverts are often labelled as the boring ones, the ones that only know how to play safe.

And in this era which we are living in, where taking risks is always cool cause it shows how brave and daring you are, the spotlight is often robbed from the introverts.

Because the world loves extroverts, introverts often feel pressured to be like them. To talk like them, to socialize like them, to be "loud" like them.

Because being quiet is being boring, because playing safe makes you a chicken, because being alone in the corner shows that you're incapable of making friends.

Oh how we often forget to see the other side of introverts which is beautiful.

How their imagination takes a roller coaster ride, how calm their mind is even in a chaotic place.

If we would stop every action to shape them into someone that they are not, then we would realize how special they are. Even in midst of silence.

Just because theyre quiet does not mean that they are boring :) and if they want to be a in corner, allow them some time to do that.

Because when they have their time alone, its a way for them to recharge themselves as their mind begins to unwind and relax.

If you're an introvert, don't be ashamed of that :) You are made special.

Oh, happy day, happy day.

Hello hellloooooo

So my third sem is starting tomorrow and I just thought of updating you guys on what I've been doing :)

Well, me & roy have been waiting for an opportunity with the proper place and time to take photos. So yeah, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw this community fair held in Beach Street, Penang. This event kickstarts at 7 am all the way to 1 pm, Sunday :) But anyways, here are some pictures :

Yesterday, we went for a short jog. Okay maybe not for him, but I KNOW I had a short jog. After that, we went for Wan Tan Mee. I honestly don't recall how excited I ever am when it comes to food. But this particular Wan Tan Mee that doesn't open every week...... *lost for words.

The last time I had it (which was my first time, thanks Josh for introducing it to me) was December 2012.

THAT LONG

Thank you aunty and uncle for opening the stall, God bless you. :D

While we were on our way for lunch. (The Belum Bangun Faces)
Oh, this isn't my bad hair day.
Because my hair always   looks like this! Hahah.

Also made breakfast for my family and him :)
Egg scramble with ham sandwich for breakfastttttt...

Completed a book from an author which I have always enjoyed.

+ Watching Walter Mitty which I personally think is the best movie I've watch so far. The cinematography and how it has a combination of comedy and values in it. (thumbs up) + having breakfast with a good friend who is leaving to Australia soon ( I'm gonna miss you, Kim!) + celebrating Mr Andrew's birthday at Seoul Garden ( two barbeque+steamboat buffets in a week) + preparing to speak during youth service + taking photos of my lil' nephews as they growing up

Yup, that's just a short summary of how my break went. Short semester which I predict will be hectic again, here I come!

i[m]possible

When people say that it's hard to juggle between church activities and studies.

Tell them that Christ can do all things through YOU because He WILL strengthen you.

Definitely feel so much more motivated to achieve a higher level.

Thank You, Jesus :)

Not ashamed.

Since secondary school, girls around me always felt a lil scared when it comes to taking the pad out from their bag before heading to the toilet. Probably also because I come from a coet school :)

Some wrap it in newspaper, some take it out and superduper quickly hid it inside their pocket like a ninja and some call their friends to take it for them. ( Hahah, the third one is quite funny sometimes if you ask me)

I..... have never experienced any of that. I'm not talking about period, of course.

I don't understand why girls are ashamed to carry their pad when its that time of the month. You're a lady, be proud that you're having it :)

So what if guys see that you are holding it? It's not like they have the opportunity to experience what YOU are experiencing right right?

This is probably the most awkward post ever.

Something About December

Hello hello :)

As you guys probably know, I don't exactly update my blog very frequently.. heheh.
But anyways, here's a brief update on how my December has been.
So Nathan celebrated his 4th birthday with lil' Evan (his birthday is tmr btw!)
Decided to take some pictures during the mini celebration with family and friends.

What is Christmas without family dinz yaw?! (Family Dinner)
Big sis gave us all a treat at Kaffa. Mmmmmm...

No, he wasn't trying to follow my dad's pose. Hahah

 This,
Is THE highlight of my December.
Bringing my two cousins to AYC 2013.
Started convincing them to join since JYR but both were pretty reluctant and by the time they actually made a decision, it was a little too late to sign up.
Constantly praying and asking them (to ask their parents) and finally, there was a green light!
When you hear them telling their parents that youth camp was awesome and that it was the best camp they've ever been to.

It really brings joy :)

#philippians4:13
Celebrating Ben's 19th with the KTB gang.

Will update my blog again on AYC 2013 :) (Yes, I did not say "soon" this time okayyyy)

Have a blessed 2014, people! Make it count :)
